The organ prelude at our service of Choral Evensong on November 26 will be performed by Marco Jimenez, 15, a student of Music Director Dwight Thomas. He will play works of Johann Sebastian Bach at 4:45 p.m. Marco is a student also of piano and violin and is a classical composer and performer with local orchestras. He was our guest organist last April, when he performed the "Toccata" from Widor's Symphony No. 5 and the Messaien "Vision of the Eternal Church." Evensong, at 5 p.m., will mark Christ the King Sunday, the last Sunday of the Christian year. We begin a new Christian year the following Sunday, December 3, the first Sunday in the season of Advent, the anticipatory four weeks leading up to Christmas. The service will include the St. Michael Responses of Robert Lehman, the "Jesus College" service by William Matthias, and Carson Cooman's anthem, "King of glory, King of peace." The Cathedral Chamber Choir will sing. Dwight Thomas is director and organist. A freewill offering is taken, and a reception follows. (From November's CrossTown)
