Messy Church

Messy Church is our monthly intergenerational family gathering involving: worship, crafts, music, storytelling and a shared supper.

We will travel around the Mediterranean with Paul sharing the news of Jesus (and dealing the vipers, shipwrecks, prison). Our travelers will have passports and maps to use for the journey.

Please register here, so we can plan for food & supplies

Thank you to all who joined for October's Messy Church! here's a preview for November from the ministry's leader: Betsy

In November's Messy Church, we will hear about Paul being sent forth in mission from the church in Jerusalem (after he tries to convince them that he's sincere and Barnabas speaks for him). THE THEME IS MISSION AND BEING SENT FORTH FROM THE CHURCH TO THE WORLD.

Paul always stayed connected to the church in Jerusalem and collected $$ for the support of that church. We will talk with the kids about 'mission' and what it means to be a missionary right where we are: school, home neighborhood. Hopefully the kids can talk about places where they might be missionaries to the St. Petersburgians.

In the book of Acts, the characters tell the story of salvation over and over again. One of the ways to do that is using colors: Gold/yellow for a perfect relationship with God in which we live in all the good things God has for us; Purple for our sins or thing things we do that separate us from God; red for the heart and love of Jesus who shed his blood and rose again so that we can find our way back to God; white for the new life in God that Jesus has given us a chance to live; and green for all the things we do (go to church, help others, etc) that we do to grow in God. note: liturgical colors!

November Messy Activities:

Passports: On the week 2 pages draw a picture of going on a journey and things you might take with you in a journey

Travel Bags: Small canvas tote bags that the kids can decorate with fabric pens

Food for the Journey: create you own trail mix snack

I Love to Tell the Story: making 'salvation' bracelets with colored beads. I have ordered large snap together beads for our smallest kids
