Walking the Mourner's Path is designed to help faith communities to reach out to those affected by grief, "transforming grief into joyful living". The program was created in 1995 by The Rev. Danielle Morris, who asked the question "where is Christ in my pain?" In eight weekly workshops participants explore the uncharted territory of their grief with others in similar situations, guided by trained facilitators. The workshops provide tools for learning and healing from their grief. Christians from other churches are welcomed to join. Participants learn: while their pain is unique, they are not alone on their journey; their awareness of the need to allow Christ to be part of their pain and healing increases; and, they find ways to honor their loved one and how to find joy again. At the end of the journey, participants along with the facilitators and their Prayer Partners celebrate a Holy Communion and a reception. A participant said, "I found people who would listen to my story, share their story and support me when I needed it. I found Peace in the group." Participants will be invited to a get-acquainted meeting with clergy and facilitators before the group starts. Please contact us should you feel the need to be included in the next group to be scheduled.
